Background: Mena is mum to three young people, the youngest of whom Jamie has learning and physical disabilities, autism and a medical condition. Jamie has good links with Yellow Submarine, doing work experience at the cafe, attending the social club and going on holiday with the friends he has made there. Mena is passionate about getting a good life not only for her son but also for other people with disabilities. She is an expert by experience. Mena is also a trustee of the Oxfordshire Family Support Network and Action for Carers (UK). She is a Quaker and is committed to working for a more just world.
Favourite Yellow Submarine memory: Volunteering on a bushcraft skills day at Wytham Woods where we made a fire by rubbing flint and a piece of steel. It took ages to create a spark big enough to light a fire. But we had some determined Yellow Submarine members who then went on to cook sausages and toast marshmallows.
Bellowhead or Oysterband? Both – I am a big fan of folk music and I love to see these two bands perform live..
