A year ago when she walked into a group environment she would have been reluctant to leave me - a year later she can’t wait to get me out of the door!
In response to Oxfordshire County Council’s warned ‘budget pressures’ for future children’s disability services, Yellow Submarine put together a survey for parents to ‘have their say’ in May 2014. This survey was shared by parents’ groups, providers and schools resulting in 225 parents giving in-depth feedback.
We collated these responses and published a report (download as pdf – please note figures quoted of possible “cuts” given in this report are no longer accurate). The intention was to give parents a medium to share their priorities and to say how important (or otherwise) they found short breaks and why.
The report has subsequently been used by Oxfordshire County Council to feed the debate about future commissioning of services.
