"My son has the best times with Yellow Sub - they're really great and fun and he loves it and would like to go every day"

Our hub days of summer 2014 saw an exciting addition of an arts project in partnership with OYAP and supported by Oxfordshire County Council and Artswork.
At first, the young people attending the hub were unsure about whether they would enjoy the project; however, the first artist Suzy Prior had everyone hooked with her 'Miniature Worlds' workshop!
The scenes had been set... the group continued with their superhero theme and began creating their own characters and comic strips with OYAP artist Amie.
Resulting in our very own super hero story, supporting the young people's literacy skills and building confidence through drama. Here's Jack recording the finished story!
This project also supported our young people to access local arts institutions, some for the first time, including this exciting trip to the Story Museum, Oxford.
Inspired by their trip, the group learnt how to develop their characters through drawing and creative writing with artist Lizzie McBain. Here's Charlie's villain!
The next creative session saw Jason Goodall facilitate a fun photography workshop where young people transformed in to their superhero characters with costume and props.
After 5 'super' sessions the group learnt yet abother skill, celebrating their incredible work with Suzy Prior and light photography. This sensory session was particularly engaging for our group and was an exciting workshop young people of all needs and abilities could fully engage in.
The project resulted in 25 young people participating in a wide range of creative sessions, with 10 achieving their Discover Arts Award. 16 support workers gained an understanding of this process, while 6 arts practitioners gained valuable experience of working with young people with learning disabilities.
