First Spark staff

First Spark was founded by Lucy and Toby Staveley who are also the organisation's directors. Both currently give their time to First Spark without being paid nor do they currently receive any remuneration for expenses or any other costs they incur.

Lucy Staveley has an undergradaute degree in Biology from the University of Manchester and a masters degree in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her career has taken her to countries such as Ecuador, Argentina, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Uganda, Indonesia and Nepal, working in both emergency relief and a development capacity for organisations such as Nomad RSI (www.nomadrsi.org), Oxfam (www.oxfam.org.uk) and the United Nations (www.unfpa.org). Her expertises include public health promotion, water and sanitation, data-collection, gender, fund-raising and proposal writing.

Toby Staveley has a masters degree in Mental Health & Learning Disabilities from the Institute of Psychiatry. He has founded and managed three businesses. For four years he ran a weekly social club for people with learning disabilities on behalf of Equal People. He is currently working primarily on First Spark's Yellow Submarine Holidays project.
