For those individuals with more complex disabilities our cafe has had a very noticeable effect on confidence and self-esteem – a crucial first rung on the ladder. For the more able we are proving a genuine stepping stone to employment and independence. In September 2014, four young people started with us on 18 month apprenticeships in partnership with Abingdon & Witney College – an Oxfordshire first for people with learning disabilities.
The project has captured Oxfordshire’s imagination. In our first year we’ve had 24,000 customers and the public have rated us the number 1 restaurant in Oxford (out of 530).
