The cafe's social impact

For those individuals with more complex disabilities our cafe has had a very noticeable effect on confidence and self-esteem – a crucial first rung on the ladder. For the more able we are proving a genuine stepping stone to employment and independence. In September 2014, four young people started with us on 18 month apprenticeships in partnership with Abingdon & Witney College – an Oxfordshire first for people with learning disabilities.

The project has captured Oxfordshire’s imagination. In our first year we’ve had 24,000 customers and the public have rated us the number 1 restaurant in Oxford (out of 530).

To learn about our impact how about looking at Anthony’s story? He joined us last year and you can see for yourself his amazing transformation.
